The holidays are just around the corner! And along with the holidays come gifts and gatherings and plenty of visitors – friends, family, the mail carrier, the FedEx and UPS drivers, school kids, neighbors… the list goes on. With all this extra activity at home, do you know where your dog is?
The disruption of routine can cause some dogs to become more aggressive, and they need to be monitored closely. When a dog owner doesn’t take seriously the potential of a change in their pet’s behavior, it can be detrimental not only to the animal, but to anyone the dog finds threatening. If you have been a dog bite victim, it is imperative for you to know your rights.
Recently a nine-year-old Colorado girl was bitten by a dog while selling candy door-to-door. According to reports, the girl rang the doorbell and the excited dog pushed the door open before the owner could hold him back. The dog bit the girl and she was taken to the hospital where she was treated and then released. Close to five million people are bitten by dogs yearly, most of them children. About 20% require medical attention and the possibility of future physical and emotional scarring exists.
In Colorado the dog bite laws are confusing, and difficult to untangle. At The Frickey Law Firm, our experienced dog bite attorneys know the laws and will analyze the facts to determine whether or not you have a case. We may be able to help you get through what can be a long and difficult healing process. When it comes to injuries, it’s important to not only think about today, but also your future.
